Bajaj Auto is going to launch its first CNG bike today (5 July). The company claims that this will be the world’s first CNG bike. This bike will run on CNG as well as petrol. The bike can come in the 100-125cc range.

The company has also recently released a teaser of the upcoming CNG bike before the official launch. It has a switch on its left handle to shift between petrol and CNG.

Bajaj had announced the launch date in a media invitation program for the launch event last month. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari of the Government of India will also be present on this occasion.

The teaser released by Bajaj has revealed that the bike is hybrid. This means that this bike will run on petrol as well as CNG fuel.

In the teaser released by the company a day before the launch, a sticker of ‘Freedom’ is visible along with the logo of Bajaj Auto. According to this, it is possible that the company has named this motorcycle ‘Bajaj Freedom’.

However, recently the company has trademarked the names ‘Bajaj Fighter’ and ‘Bajaj Bruiser’. In such a situation, it is being speculated that the name of this bike can be Fighter, Bruiser or Freedom.

CNG fuel tank can be under the seat
Bajaj’s new CNG bike has been designed to compete with other 125 cc bikes. It has an ADV-inspired design, which looks quite attractive. The spotted pictures show that it can have a petrol tank of about 5 liters.

The bike has a long seat extending across the wheelbase, under which the CNG tank can be located. The company has not yet given any information about the mileage of the bike. However, the running cost of three-wheelers and four-wheelers running on CNG is generally more economical than petrol.

The price can be 80 thousand rupees
According to media reports, Bajaj’s CNG bike will get a round LED headlight, a braced tubular handlebar with guard, large fuel tank cladding, large seat and single-piece grab rail and LED taillight.

Apart from this, it is expected to get separate tanks to run on petrol and CNG fuel and a semi-digital instrument console. Its engine capacity is likely to be between 110-125cc and the starting price will be around Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom).

Bajaj Auto Executive Director Rakesh Sharma had also urged the government to reduce the GST on CNG bikes to 12%.

Bajaj will also launch CNG bikes in different segments
Bajaj said, ‘Amid rising prices of petrol and diesel, the company will target customers worried about rising running costs with the CNG model. It will be launched first in Maharashtra and later in those states where CNG stations are available.’ Bajaj says that ‘We will create a portfolio of CNG bikes, which will include 100CC, 125CC and 150-160CC bikes.

CNG bike will cause less pollution
Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj had told in an interview last month that the company will launch CNG bikes in the first quarter of FY25. He had said that we want to reduce the cost of fuel by half.

Rajiv had said about the new project that during the testing of the prototype, there was a 50% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emission, 75% in carbon monoxide (CO) and about 90% reduction in non-methane hydrocarbon emission as compared to the petrol bike, which means that the CNG bike will cause less pollution.
