Your pocket is going to be ‘robbed’ from July 3. All three telecom companies of the country are going to increase the rates of their recharge plans. Reliance Jio has decided to implement new rates of its prepaid and postpaid plans from July 3, in which the rate of old unlimited recharge plan has been increased by 20 to 22 percent. Apart from this, the company has also limited unlimited free 5G data. After Jio, Airtel has also announced to increase the rates of its plans. Airtel’s new recharge plans will also be implemented from July 3.

After the plans of these two telecom companies became expensive, the third telecom player Vodafone-Idea (Vi) is also in the mood to increase the rates of recharge plans. If reports are to be believed, the new rates of Vodafone-Idea can also be implemented from July 3. Last month, the CEO of the telecom company Akshay Mundra had said that if the competitor companies increase the average revenue per user (ARPU), then Vodafone-Idea can also increase the rates of its plans.

The battle to increase ARPU

Akshay Mundra had said in his statement that there has been price recovery in the last few years. Currently, Vodafone-Idea is in huge losses and is also losing its users due to lack of network expansion. Increasing the average revenue per user will help telecom companies recover the expenses incurred in network expansion and upgrade. Airtel Chairman Sunil Mittal has also advocated increasing the average revenue per user of telecom companies from Rs 200 to Rs 300. Due to the expensive plans of telecom companies, there is going to be an additional burden on the pockets of users every month.

The cost of network upgrade will be covered

In the recent 5G spectrum auction, Bharti Airtel has bought 97 MHz spectrum worth Rs 6,856 crore. At the same time, Reliance Jio has participated in this auction and bought 14.4 MHz spectrum, for which the telecom company has spent Rs 973 crore. At the same time, Vodafone-Idea has bid for 50 MHz spectrum, for which Rs 3,510 crore will have to be spent. It had become very important for telecom companies to increase ARPU to recover the cost of upgrading the network infrastructure.
